What is Gum Benjamin
An aromatic natural resin derived from Styrax trees, recognized for its resinous texture and characteristic balsamic aroma.
Gum Benjamin is a natural product derived from the resin of the Benjamin tree (Styrax benzoin), which thrives in specific regions of Indonesia. This resin has long been prized for its superior quality in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries. Gum Benjamin has a distinct, aromatic scent and offers a wide range of benefits, serving as a primary ingredient in essential oils, ointments, and skincare products.
Gum Benjamin (also known as benzoin resin) is a fragrant natural resin extracted from trees of the genus Styrax. When tapped from the bark, the resin solidifies into translucent, pale ochre-to‐brown lumps, containing a characteristic vanilla-like aroma and balsamic properties.
Historically a valuable non-timber forest product, Gum Benjamin has been used in incense, perfumery, and traditional medicines. The international trade respects standards for colour, purity, grading and resin clarity, making it a niche commodity with consistent demand.
